If you think you "know" thrift stores because you have shopped at the Goodwill or Salvation Army, then you might want to continue reading.
While many thrift stores get merchandise for free through donations this is not always the case. For example, there is a thrift store known as SAVERS. This company actually pays other non-profits for the items you will find for sale in a SAVERS store. SAVERS thrift stores can be found throughout the USA.
Goodwill Industries are all run locally, so just because one store does something a certain way does not mean all the stores do the same thing. This means you should contact each store you are interested in shopping from to check for sale dates. Many stores offer certain days of the week where a special color tag is 50% off.
You should check Yelp or Google for your specific location and search for thrift shops. In addition to the well known "big guys" you will find many small local owned thrift stores through out the USA.
Once you start shopping at different stores you will notice some may be great for furniture while others are great for small appliances and others are perfect for shoes and clothes.
Like any retail experience it takes time and patience to find what you want at the right price.
At least with thrift shopping you save yourself some money and help others better their lives at the same time.

We're Well Into the New Year, So Why Not Make a New Goal to Spend Less & Live Better
Have any of you been to a mall lately? I don't know about you, but the prices on some clothing gives me sticker shock. I LOVE to look good and have nice clothes, but I see no reason to drop BIG dollars on clothing. I could MAYBE understand dropping a ton of cash on a customer one-of-a-kind Haute Couture gown, but I am not in that league at the moment. Therefore, why buy a dress for $100 when I can get one just as pretty for a fraction of that cost?
For example, I picked up an adorable summer dress by Rampage for only $1.00:
I love shoes, but I'm all about comfort. I found a pair of Cole Haan Shoes from a local thrift shop (not a big name thrift store) for only $4.00:
The Rampage dress shown above would have set you back at least $70 at the mall and the Cole Haan shoes would have been in the same $70 range. I got both for $5.00. I ended up giving the rampage dress away as a birthday present and the shoes were eventually sold on eBay (but buying and flipping is for another post).
My point is that you can look great and stylish without maxing out your credit cards or ruining your budget. Thrift shops are a great way to spruce up a tired wardrobe any day of the week.

Welcome to TC's Treasures new blog. TCs Treasures is an online store at eBay that carries a wide assortment of new and pre-owned items including clothing, collectibles, kitchenware, glassware, and more. Our products are all unique because they are sourced from yard sales, estate sales, thrift shops, and we take items on consignment to sell for others.
My hope for this blog is twofold. First, I want to give people an incentive to support local businesses via eBay. Everyone knows about the "big name" stores that can be found at malls across America, but did you know that we can all help each other become successful by purchasing goods from small businesses like the ones found on eBay?
There's pretty much **NOTHING** you can desire that cannot be found for sale on eBay. Sellers on eBay are people just like YOU. As a matter of fact my other goal is to encourage my readers to join eBay as a seller to see how easy and fun it can be to make money every month flipping items found at yard sales, thrift shops, or just laying around your home gathering dust.
So, I hope you'll check back often to read the latest news and updates, and even better: I hope you will subscribe to TC's Treasures blog. In the meantime, please feel free to explore our store at www.tcstreasures.net and feel free to ask questions or comment below.
